Run the Race

  1. True Dedication

Peter Higgs (he of the boson fame) originally submitted his paper theorizing the boson’s existence in 1964. It was rejected as “having no obvious relevance to physics” He spent the next 50 years proving it. I don’t know anyone with that kind of tenacity.

  2. Indianapolis

I actually think I could live here. Of course, I could live anywhere.

  3. Friendship

Beautiful day in Illiopolis, IL at the home of long-term, dear friends. It’s why I made this Midwest trip. To be privileged to have such wonderful people in my life is a blessing indeed.

  4. ☛ Stone Without Hands: Called to Teach - Part 3

    stonewithouthands:

At the end of the “Called to Teach - Part 2” post, we said that another consideration that affects the content of a translation of the Bible is the choice of manuscript(s) that the translators use to create the translation. That’s what this post is about.

We’ll simplify things by talking only…

So appreciate the work that went into this — into all of these posts!

  5. And this simple truth is quite sadly the reason the Christian church is by so many considered irrelevant — no one does this.

  6. ☛ Daring Fireball Linked List: Innovation Through Simplicity

    minimalmac:

The utter simplicity of the iOS home screen is Apple’s innovation. It’s the simplest, most obvious “system” ever designed. It is a false and foolish but widespread misconception that “innovation” goes only in the direction of additional complexity.

John’s whole commentary on this is spot on.

It feels a bit like me “drinking from the cool-aid” but I agree with Gruber’s analysis and Rhone’s assent

  7. I don’t know a perfect person. I only know flawed people who are still worth loving.

  8. ☛ Your iPad is not obsolete | 52 Tiger

Your iPad 3 is still a fantastic device, and will continue to work admirably for years. The new iPad with Retina display does not diminish your existing iPad’s usefulness. It can be disappointing not to have the very latest and greatest, but it’s not the least bit necessary.

    That is also my conclusion

  9. Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby)

My favorite line from this book
